International Workshop on Volume Graphics
30-31 July, 2006
Boston Park Plaza, Boston, Massachusetts, USA
WELCOME TO VG06
Following successful workshops in
Swansea (1999),
Stony Brook (2001),
Tokyo (2003), and
Stony Brook again (2005), the 5th International
Workshop on Volume Graphics, VG06, will take place in Boston in July 2006.
VG06 aims to bring together researchers from both the academic and industry
who are working, or wish to work, on volume graphics. Volume Graphics is
concerned with modeling, processing, and rendering of data which is
typically acquired through analytical methods, medical scanners,
computational simulations, or statistical measurements. It is capable of
modeling solid as well as amorphous objects, and interiors as well as
surfaces, and synthesizing graphical images in a true 3D manner. The
workshop will continue to explore the potential of volume-based
techniques beyond the scope of volume visualization as it is currently
practiced.
VG06 will be held in conjunction with
Point-Based Graphics Symposium
2006 (July 29-30, 2006), both under the auspices of
SIGGRAPH 2006
Conference. Professor Marc Levoy,
Stanford University, will deliver the keynote address on the opening day of the workshop.
Professor Ron Kikinis,
Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical
School, will be the Capstone Speaker on the closing day of the workshop.
